About Me

Most people feel like the economy isn’t working for them. But it’s not because you aren’t working hard enough or you’re lazy. It’s because of our current economic system. The problems aren’t bugs, they are a feature of the system itself.

Once you understand how the system actually works, the problems people face today stop being surprising. They start looking inevitable. And that changes everything about how you think about money, investing, and your own financial future.

That’s what Unmasked Economics is about.

How This Started

I’m Chris. I don’t have a finance degree. I’m not a Wall Street insider. I’m not a financial advisor.

I started paying attention to markets during COVID. Like a lot of people, the volatility got my attention. So did watching crypto take off in real time. I started watching YouTube videos, following threads, trying to make sense of what was happening. And the more I learned, the more I realized how much wasn’t being explained.

Not hidden exactly. Just never taught. There’s a difference.

I kept digging because that’s how my brain works. I have ADHD, and one thing it’s good at is pattern recognition. Once I start pulling a thread, I follow it until I understand how all the pieces connect. Why does inflation keep happening? What actually happens when the government borrows money? Why does the dollar buy less every year even when wages go up? Why has the national debt grown this fast, and who actually pays for it?

The answers exist. They’re just scattered, technical, or buried in content that wasn’t made for regular people.

My ADHD brain is also wired for survival. If I can understand how a system works, I can figure out how to navigate it. That’s the instinct behind this site. Learn the rules of the game. Even the ones nobody told you about.

What Unmasked Economics Is

This site exists to explain how the economic system actually works, in plain language, for regular people.

There are three things this site is trying to do:

First, explain the system itself. How money is created. What the Federal Reserve actually does. Why inflation isn’t an accident. How the government borrows and who holds that debt. The foundational stuff that nobody taught you but that explains almost everything happening in the economy right now.

Second, show why the current moment is different. There has never been a world reserve fiat currency carrying this much debt relative to GDP. Ever. That’s not a political statement. It’s a historical fact. And when you understand how the system works, the implications of that fact become very hard to ignore.

Third, help you figure out what to do with that information. Understanding the system isn’t just an intellectual exercise. It has real implications for how you invest, how you protect your purchasing power, and how you think about your financial future. That’s what the practical side of this site is built around.
